‘Sayalah orangnya’ — Pengakuan Menteri Kesihatan mengenai isu DVD seks libatkan ahli politik

menjelaskan mengenai pembabitannya dalam skandal seks dengan seorang
wanita pada sidang akhbar di Labis, Johor, semalam.



LABIS 1 Jan. – Naib Presiden MCA, Datuk Seri Dr. Chua Soi Lek
membuat pengakuan terbuka hari ini bahawa beliau ialah orang yang
terlibat dalam aksi hubungan seks bersama seorang wanita yang salinan
cakera video digital (DVD) perlakuan itu diedarkan secara meluas di
Johor sejak tiga hari lalu.

Bagaimanapun, di sebalik pengakuan terbuka tersebut, Menteri
Kesihatan itu menegaskan, beliau tidak akan melepaskan jawatannya dalam
kerajaan dan parti.

Soi Lek yang membacakan teks kenyataan pada sidang akhbar di pejabat
MCA Labis di sini petang ini menyifatkan wanita terbabit sebagai kawan
baiknya.

‘‘Siapa yang terlibat dan apakah motif DVD itu dihasil dan dirakamkan tidak penting lagi.

“Yang paling mustahak bagi saya sekarang ialah keluarga, isteri dan
anak-anak telah pun menerima permohonan maaf daripada saya,” katanya.

Sidang akhbar pada pukul 4.30 petang itu penuh sesak dengan kehadiran wartawan serta para penyokong Soi Lek.

Menteri Kesihatan berusia 61 tahun itu tampil membuat pengakuan
tersebut bagi menjelaskan kontroversi DVD pemimpin politik Johor yang
dikatakan mengadakan hubungan seks dengan seorang wanita muda di sebuah
hotel.

DVD hasil rakaman kamera litar tertutup (CCTV) itu diedarkan secara
percuma di Muar dan Batu Pahat oleh orang yang tidak dikenali dan
pertama kali dilaporkan oleh akhbar berbahasa Cina pada Ahad lalu.

Turut hadir bersama 200 penyokong Soi Lek pada sidang akhbar itu
ialah Pengerusi MCA Labis, Tan Kok Hong yang juga Ahli Dewan Undangan
Negeri (ADUN) Bekok dan ADUN Tenang, Datuk Sulaiman Taha yang juga
Pengerusi BN Labis.

Menurut Soi Lek, beliau telah menemui Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri
Abdullah Ahmad Badawi dan Timbalan Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib
Tun Razak serta Presiden MCA, Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting untuk memohon maaf
atas kontroversi itu.

Beliau yang enggan mengulas lanjut mengenai pertemuannya dengan
ketiga-tiga pemimpin itu bagaimanapun menegaskan tetap akan menjalankan
tugas sebagai menteri Kabinet, Ahli Parlimen dan pemimpin MCA seperti
biasa.

Bernama melaporkan Chua, yang akan menyambut ulang tahun ke-61 esok,
diiringi isteri beliau, Datin Seri Wong Sek Hin ketika beliau menemui
Abdullah di Seri Perdana, Putrajaya semalam untuk menerangkan mengenai
DVD tersebut.

Pada pertemuan itu, Soi Lek mengakui bahawa beliaulah orang dalam DVD itu yang dirakam dua tahun lepas.

Berikutan pertemuan itu, diputuskan bahawa Menteri Kesihatan berkenaan hendaklah menjelaskan perkara tersebut secara terbuka.

Ketika menjawab pertanyaan pemberita, Soi Lek menerima tepukan
gemuruh daripada penyokongnya apabila beliau berkata: ‘‘Menteri
berkhidmat atas kepercayaan yang diberi oleh Perdana Menteri.”

Beliau yang kelihatan tenang menjawab pelbagai soalan daripada
wartawan, turut menafikan beliau sendiri bertanggungjawab merakam dan
menghasilkan DVD tersebut.

Menurutnya, pihak di sebalik pembikinan rakaman itu tidak penting,
namun sebab mereka berbuat demikian adalah jelas tetapi beliau enggan
mengulas lanjut.

Beliau turut merayu media supaya memberikan beliau dan keluarganya sedikit ruang ketika menghadapi saat-saat getir tersebut.

Soi Lek berkata, beliau mengetahui mengenai rakaman itu pada Ahad lalu apabila seorang rakan memberikan salinannya.

Ditanya sama ada beliau berhasrat untuk membuat laporan polis, Soi
Lek berkata: “Saya akan memikirkan perkara itu dengan serius.”

Beliau turut memohon maaf kepada rakan seperjuangan, penyokongnya dan rakyat Malaysia.

‘‘Saya juga berterima kasih kepada mereka yang prihatin dan
mengambil berat dengan membuat panggilan telefon dan khidmat pesanan
ringkas (SMS),” katanya.

Selepas sidang akhbar itu, beberapa pengikutnya turut mengambil kesempatan untuk bersalaman dan mengucapkan simpati kepadanya.

Sementara itu, Kok Hong yang juga Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Perdagangan
Antarabangsa dan Industri, Tenaga, Air dan Komunikasi Johor berkata,
pihaknya akan terus memberi sokongan kepada Soi Lek sebagai Ahli
Parlimen Labis untuk mewakili kawasan Parlimen itu pada pilihan raya
akan datang.

Beliau berkata, kejujuran Soi Lek mengakui kesilapannya patut
menjadi contoh kepada orang lain kerana belum ada pemimpin yang
mengambil sikap berani dan sejujur beliau.

Get Happy: Making Decisions for Emotional Quality

Happiness is really hard to define. Why? Because happiness isn’t just one feeling (pleasure) or one experience (winning gold at the Olympics). Instead happiness is a broad assessment of a whole bunch of different experiences and feelings. Happiness isn’t usually a feeling itself, but an estimate of the average quality of your emotions.

Three Components of Happiness - Variety, Depth and Quality

There are really three components to happiness, variety, depth and quality:

  • Variety - Imagine going to a restaurant where they served your favorite meal. Except that was the only meal they served you and you had to eat there for every meal of your life. Variety matters in tastes and it matters in happiness. When you only get one type of emotion repeatedly, it starts to lose power until it just becomes normal.
  • Depth - This means the intensity of the emotion. It is the difference between feeling pleasant and feeling ecstatic. Intensity shouldn’t be constant (cycles between low and high) but with only neutral intensity life is boring.
  • Quality - This means the difference between positive and negative. It’s all your perception, but I’d label certain emotions as having a high quality (enthusiasm, love, satisfaction) and other emotions as having a low quality (hate, depression, guilt).

The emotional quality model means you are making decisions in some attempt to improve one of these three factors. Either you want to add different types of emotions, you want to create greater cycles of emotional intensity or you want to improve the quality of your emotions.

That’s great but how do you actually use this to make decisions?

Emotional Decisions - Creating Ripples

Decisions aren’t linear in that they are one cause creating one effect, but like a stone being dropped into a pond, they ripple outwards, creating many effects. Deciding to start a business doesn’t just give you a business. It changes who you associate with, your investments, your way of thinking and your experiences.

Making decisions using the emotional quality model differ than the decisions most people make because you look for different effects, namely the changes in your emotional life.

Let’s say you are trying to figure out whether you should quit your job and pursue a new career. A hard decision to make by any standard, but how would you look at the problem from this new perspective? This graph shows each decision by estimating the impact on emotional quality (EQ), emotional variety (EV) and emotional intensity (EI):

This is a pretty generalized example, but as you can see changing careers will create different ripples. You will probably take a short-term dive in EQ (emotional quality) as you switch from comfort to survival. As you reestablish yourself, however, this EQ will begin to spike as you adapt to new living expenses and start working your passion. In contrast, your decision to stay at a job will slowly lower EQ and drastically cut EV (emotional variety) as you simmer at a job you dislike.

That was a pretty obvious example. You could have read any self-help book around and figured out that the intelligent (although scary) choice would be to get out of an environment you hate and pursue a job you love.

What about a decision that isn’t as rationally clear? Let’s say you were trying to decide between whether you should:

(A) Travel the world with less work (See 4-Hour Workweek)
(B) Work hard to establish your own business (See Steve Pavlina or Darren Rowse)
(C) Actively improve your intimate relationships (See AskDanandJennifer)

I’ve simplified the graph to compress more information, but if you really wanted to make your own, you would estimate how variety, quality and depth would be impacted by time for each decision. Total happiness being a product of all three.

Decisions like these are hard no matter what lens you use, but using traditional methods it is almost impossible. Normally trying to use logic to compare these decisions would be like comparing apples to giraffes wearing orange hats. Sure you can do a value assessment deciding if you think personal relationships are more important than world travel or business, but this basically comes down to making a gut decision that often isn’t useful.

With the EQ model, you actually have some basis to compare the results of these different decisions:

I’ve lumped all emotions together into variety, depth and quality, to simplify the diagram, but you can see how each would be filled with different emotions. World travel might create excitement, business could create challenge and satisfaction, personal relationships might create love.

Looking at this model you can get a rough prediction of how each will affect your happiness over different periods of time. Definitely a useful tool if you are trying to make big decisions.

Beyond Decisions - Using EQ for Synergy

The real place this model works, isn’t when you’re trying to compare options, but trying to create them. Using EQ means you get to examine how a decision will impact happiness at different times so you can create a better option.

Let’s say you have a long range goal to earn more money. Now you want to use the EQ model to figure out the best way to reach that goal. Obviously the best solution would be the one where all three components of happiness are maximized for the entire duration.

I recently used a similar process to this when making some decisions about how to create a sustainable income off this website. The problem wasn’t that I had too few options, but too many potential ones. I could write lots of posts and network with other bloggers to try to become an A-Lister, I could look into workshops/speaking gigs, I could work on products or another completely different approach.

Although all of these could work, some of my estimates suggested that working on products as a major focus would probably be the best decision in terms of EQ. More importantly, I decided that starting with smaller products before moving to larger ones would make the most sense for EQ.

Decision making is just one of many ways you can use the EQ model. I still recommend, as Steve Pavlina calls it, the, “Ready, Fire, Aim” approach to making decisions. Just as you won’t know what works best for external success, it takes experimentation to figure out what will work for EQ. The point is simply to give you a first estimate you can then make adjustments from.

40 Inventive Principles in Customer Satisfaction Enhancement

Principle 1. Segmentation

A. Divide an object or system into independent parts.

·  Utilize customized marketing approach for complete market segmentation: cluster prospective buyers into groups that have common needs.

·  Divide the market by regions and establish autonomous region sales centers.

·  Split major sales between several business customers.

·  Five steps of Six Sigma improvement approach: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control (DMAIC).

Principle 22. "Blessing in Disguise"

·  Use customer dissatisfaction source as a valuable feedback and opportunity for improvement (e. g., complaint, claim, refund, recall, return, replacement, downgrade, warranty cost, litigation).

·  Customers whose complaints are handled properly are more loyal than customers who never had a complaint.

·  The most loyal customer is a dissatisfied customer who later has all of his needs met.

B. Eliminate the primary harmful action by adding it to another harmful action to resolve the problem.

·  Get customer to make stock inventory transparent for Just-In-Time delivery.

·  Introduce smoke-screen misinformation to disguise confidential (e.g., R&D) activities.

A. Make objects interact with a given object of the same material (or material with identical properties).

·  Hire local people to acquire cultural knowledge of local customers.

·  Include customers (consumers) from the sector being surveyed into focus groups for survey.

Principle 34. Discarding and Recovering

A. Make portions of an object or system that have fulfilled their functions go away (discard by dissolving, evaporating, etc.) or modify them directly during operation.

·  Subcontract marketing, sales or advertisement agencies.

B. Conversely, restore consumable parts of an object or system directly in operation.

·  Warranty – commitment of manufacturer to repair or replace any part that fails during the life of product.

Principle 35. Parameter Changes

A. Change an object’s or system’s physical state (e.g., to a gas, liquid or solid).

·  Establish virtual shopping.

·  Institute online catalogs.

B. Change the concentration or consistency.

C. Change the degree of flexibility.

·  Use special offers for sales or service promotions.

D. Change the temperature.

·  Initiate new challenges for the customer service team.

Tak naik pelamin

Ina, Suhaimi raikan hari bersejarah Ahad

NOR Diana Mohd Naim, 23, pernah mengimpikan sebuah majlis perkahwinan nan indah. Bersanding di atas pelamin bersama lelaki yang dicintainya, tetapi semua itu hanya tinggal angan-angan buat gadis dari Kota Tinggi ini.

Bakal disatukan tanggal 12 Ogos nanti di samping lelaki yang baru dikenalinya, Mohd Suhaimi Saad, 27, pasangan itu memilih meraikannya cukup hanya dengan majlis ringkas yang dibenarkan syarak.

Ketika sesi fotografi ini berlangsung, Ina sempat berseloroh pada juru foto kami supaya mengambil gambarnya yang sedang duduk di atas pelamin di dalam butik Lat’s Collections milik Kak Sofie.

“Abang, ambillah gambar Ina atas pelamin sebab selepas ini Ina tidak merasa bersanding atas pelamin,” katanya berseloroh.

Di tanya tidakkah dia kesal kerana impiannya untuk bersanding tidak tercapai, Ina yang baru saja mengikat tali pertunangan dengan Suhaimi dua bulan lalu berkata, sebagai isteri dia harus menurut kata suaminya.

“Mungkin dulu Ina tidak tahu hukum. Sekarang Ina berada di jalan yang benar, apa yang dia cakap itu adalah ilmu. Ina kena terima ilmu itu dengan terbuka.

“Pada majlis pernikahan nanti, Ina akan khatam al-Quran. Kami juga akan buat tahlil dan kenduri doa selamat serta sembahyang berjemaah,” katanya yang akan dinikahkan di Masjid Jamek Felcra Sungai Ara, Kota Tinggi.

Pada malam itu nanti, Suhaimi akan menyerahkan wang hantaran bernilai RM10,000. Sementara barang hantaran pula akan dibawa pada majlis persandingan mereka nanti yang dijadual berlangsung selepas Aidilfitri. Pada majlis pernikahan mereka, kedua-dua mempelai memilih fabrik berwarna putih dan ungu.

Ina kurang setuju apabila ramai mengatakan dia seperti tidak sabar untuk mendirikan rumah tangga. Mereka bukan tidak sabar mahu berkahwin, tetapi selepas mengambil kira beberapa faktor jelas sekali perkahwinan adalah jalan penyelesaian.

“Bukan kami tidak sabar mahu berkahwin. Banyak benda yang kami perlu jaga, orang ramai tidak tahu tetapi mereka hanya tahu cakap belakang saja. Suhaimi kena jaga sebab dia ikon nasyid, jika tidak nanti nama Ina dan dia akan buruk. Nama Hijjaz juga akan tercalar, begitu juga dengan nama keluarga kami.

“Disebabkan itu, kami tidak pernah keluar berdua. Selalunya kami akan keluar dengan sepupu dan adik Ina sekali, tetapi kita tidak tahu niat jahat orang. Silap hari bulan mereka ambil gambar kami berdua dan disebarkan di internet. Lagipun selepas berbincang kami dapati benda yang baik eloklah disegerakan,” kata Ina yang kelihatan semakin berseri-seri sejak menjalinkan hubungan dengan Suhaimi.

Buang jauh-jauh episod duka

NAMPAKNYA Ina sudah dapat melupakan episod duka yang pernah menerjah hidupnya kira-kira setahun lalu. Pada 10 Julai lalu, cukuplah setahun ikatan pertunangannya dengan Mawi putus. Namun, Ina tidak mahu mengingati peristiwa pahit itu lagi.

Dia mengakui sedang bahagia dengan Suhaimi, walaupun berkenalan mereka cukup singkat tetapi mereka masih lagi dalam proses untuk mengenali hati budi masing-masing. Ina yang sudah pun mengikuti kursus kahwin di Zura’s Akademi di Bangsar pada 22 Ogos lalu tidak tahu lagi akan menetap di mana.

Selepas nikah nanti, Suhaimi akan berpindah ke rumah sewa Ina yang terletak di Kota Damansara kerana Suhaimi diberikan cuti selama enam bulan daripada mengajar. Suhaimi bercadang untuk berhenti mengajar di Sekolah Rendah Agama, Al Irsyad, Kuantan tetapi tidak dibenarkan guru besar sekolah berkenaan.

Jadi Suhaimi meminta cuti selama tiga bulan tetapi diberikan lima bulan oleh pengetuanya. Selepas kahwin Suhaimi bercadang untuk berhenti mengajar di sana dan khabarnya mahu mengajar di sekolah sekitar Kuala Lumpur saja kerana tidak mahu berpisah jauh daripada bakal isterinya.

“Dulu tak ada isteri jadi tidak fikir sangat apabila ditugaskan ke Kuantan tapi sekarang ini sudah ada isteri, susah pula hendak berulang alik ke Kuala Lumpur selalu. Saya masih minat mengajar cuma sekarang ini bergantung kepada keadaan. Sejak bertunang dengan Ina rezeki saya semakin lebat.

“Kedudukan ekonomi kami pun belum kukuh lagi, kalau seorang tinggal di Kuantan dan seorang lagi di Kuala Lumpur kos lebih tinggi. Jadi kami akan fikirkan cara untuk atasi masalah itu,” kata Suhaimi yang tidak berdebar menghadapi hari indah dalam hidupnya cuma mengakui dia risau kerana tanggungjawabnya sudah bertambah.
